DIRECTOR, Nanette R. Davis Degrees:
California Credentials: Preliminary Single Subject Teaching Credential
I have been a public education teacher all of my professional life. After earning my BS in Education in Home Economics at Ohio State University I moved to Connecticut where my husband was employed at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft as an Aeronautical Engineer. While teaching at the local high school, I earned my MA in Education from the University of Connecticut. My husband and I were blessed with three wonderful children, two sons and a daughter, who became my first priority. I was teaching on a part time basis, and as my children entered school, I managed to become licensed in Elementary Education to teach grades K-6 in Connecticut. I continued to teach at the middle and high school level specializing in health, human development, and child development. From 1997 – 2002, I directed a community based preschool with my child development classes which I feel has been the highlight of my professional career, so far. This preschool was widely accepted by the community, superintendent’s office, school administration, parents, and students as being a high quality educational facility where both children and students could come together to learn. In 2002, we moved our family to California when my husband became a professor of Aeronautical Engineering at UC Davis. In the fall of 2003, I began teaching Human Development at Sierra College as an adjunct professor. For two years, starting in the fall of 2004, I also taught part time at Sacramento Valley Technical High School as the early childhood education career pathway teacher. I began the process of creating the Early Childhood Learning Center of Natomas in the fall of 2006, realizing a long term goal of mine to own my own center. Having a strong background in Human Development (the study of all stages of life) in addition to Child Development (specializing in one stage) has given me a unique perspective about the education of children. I have brought a distinctive approach to this program that you aren’t likely to find in other centers. I am very excited about the realization of this dream and am happy to present it to the Natomas community. Teacher - Miss Jodi Degree: BA Child Development from CSU Sacramento I am very excited to be part of the amazing teaching team here at ECLCN. I am originally from Modesto, California where I graduated from Johansen High School’s Child Development and Education Academy. Through the Academy I gained experience and knowledge by volunteering at local elementary schools teaching literacy and taking college level ECE courses. After graduation I moved to Sacramento to attend Sacramento State. At CSUS I joined a local sorority, Chi Delta and became very active within the community. I graduated in May 2006 with my Bachelors Degree in Child Development. I then became an Infant/Toddler teacher at Poppy Patch Child Care at the Franchise Tax Board. There I completed training in Program for Infant/Toddler Care (PITC). All together, I have about 10 years of experience in the Child Development field and I also have First Aid and CPR certification. I am happily married and have the greatest son, Peyton. When our son was born I took some time off to stay at home with him and after about a year I decided to pursue my career, teaching! I am happy to say that I have found a home here at the Early Childhood Learning Center of Natomas. |
